Sure, getting up in the morning, we can often feel like bacon,
sausages and eggs with a few pieces of buttered toast or pancakes.
It's hard to resist when the cravings hit but it's best to start
your day with a lean breakfast and much less saturated fat!
All the food you consume at breakfast doesn't necessarily get used
up as energy when you're going about the rest of your morning - it
can still be stored in your body as fat. This is why a lean
breakfast can save you from extra calories. You don't
necessarily have to avoid your favorite breakfast meals, just cook
them and prepare them a little on the lean side.
For instance, if you still want to eat the food mentioned
earlier (let's face it, the example is commonly liked ;-)), you
can still cook a healthier version. Try your meal with poached or
boiled eggs rather than fried toast, unbuttered toast, lean
beef sausages (not pork) and short-cut bacon, with all excess fat
removed from the bacon. Multi-grain bread toasted instead of white
bread is also a healthier alternative. When cooking your
sausages and bacon, use a non-stick frying pan so you don't
require oil or butter to lube the food.
However, if you're
not interested in an old "family favorite", there are many
delicious, healthy and lean breakfast snacks and meals you can
make that will leave you feeling full until lunch!
