The delicious food we eat every day can still be healthy and you don't need to feel like you're going on a diet! There's a misconception that lean food always tastes bland or bad but we've proven this wrong time and time again.

Have you considered grilling instead of deep frying? Yes, the flavor and texture is slightly different, but there is still an awesome flavor, right? For instance, grilled fish is quite lean and still delicious even though it isn't deep fried like battered and crumbed fish.  Canned fish, oysters etc: buy them when they're sold "in spring water" or "in brine" rather than in oil which is not going to do you any good in your journey to a leaner diet.

For a leaner, healthier way to cook your meals, purchase non-stick pots and pans so you need less oil and butter when cooking. In many cases, you can effectively cook without any lubricant at all!

Stumped at how you can keep the flavor but make leaner meals?  The Lean Chef brings to you a great collection of delicious lean recipes as well as some helpful, lean, healthy eating hints!  We've categorized them to make searching easier for you:

It’s very helpful to see companies beginning to market to dieters. As everyone knows, fat is one of the primary ingredients, in ANY diet, that needs to be considered for reduction in order to lose weight. However, many of those foods and beverages you want to purchase that have "low fat" or "99% fat free" or similar, have a “hidden” baddie to compensate the fat deletion.

Check the nutrition tables on the back of packets of food you want to purchase - you'll notice many products have more sugar added to make the food or drink taste great and because of the lower in fat claim, you're left not feeling guilty about eating something "naughty".

So, when it comes to shopping for many things including frozen ready-meals, canned fish, biscuits, milk (esp. skim milk) etc, consider how much sugar is included - not just how lean its fat content is. Sugar is just as important to reduce as fat when trying to lose weight.
